Meet the Instructors

Cresanda Allen– Certified Science & Math Teacher
Roesanda Allen– Certified English Language Arts & Reading Teacher

Science Instructor, Mother, Urban Farmer, Author, Educational Consultant, Naturalist

Allen’s love for science & the environment blossomed 18 years ago during her college years. After graduating college with a BA in Environmental Studies, she began a teaching career as an Outdoor Education Instructor. Allen conducted environmental research as a Botanist intern for the US Forest Service in Mi­Wok, California and a Whale Research Intern in Maui, Hawaii. For the past 11 years Cresanda has taught Science for DISD, charter and private schools. As an advocate for Texas native plants, she has obtained a Native Landscape Design Certificate from the Native Plant Society of Texas. 

Allen is the founder of the McCarty & Maathai Community Garden. For 3 years, Cresanda has served as a board member and Particulate Matter Committee member for Downwinders at Risk.

Allen is currently pursuing her Masters in Agricultural Science.

ELAR Instructor, Mother, Interior Designer

Roesanda has 19 years in the industry of educating young minds. She has served as an educator in the public school, private, and non-profit sector. Roesnda has a passion for youth literacy. Allen expresses her creativity as an interior designer.

She has a big heart for single mothers, and has ministered to them for over 10 years.

She enjoys time with her 6 grandchildren and currently homeschools one of them. She finds the joy in life and is a blessing to many.
